Looking Back and Ahead

As 2013 comes to an end, I realize I have so very much to be thankful for. Our sweet baby girl was born this year, which has been the most amazing blessing in my life. I never knew I could love so much. With that said, I decided to start a new interior design business about a month after she was born….which all moms would agree is a certifiably insane idea! While it has been busy, stressful, and exhausting, it is also a dream come true to be doing something that I truly enjoy and still getting to spend most of my days with my Emma Rose. I am so blessed to have a family that helps me take care of Emma Rose, and to have a baby who is nothing short of a trooper on all of our fabric store and design center excursions.

I am very grateful to all of my clients that gave me the opportunity to help them design their home, and make their dream spaces a reality. It is so wonderful to know that I am creating spaces that families will play in, relax in, grow in, and love in for years to come.

As 2014 approaches, I leave you with a look back at some of the 2013 design projects by Lauren Harris Interiors through Instagram.

Design Help from Afar

Technology has made communication easier in so many ways. Now-a-days it can be used for designers to help clients design their homes from afar! That is exactly what I have done for a friend from college that wanted some design help, but lives in Florida.

First, she sent me photos of the areas of her home that she wanted help with, as well as the other areas of her home so that I had a good understanding of her design aesthetic. I spent a good hour inspecting each photo so that we could work with what she had, and add some new pieces to tie it all together. We worked it out so that I sent her the mood boards for each room, as well as links to the products, where to find it all, and where to place it all. Once all of the info was there, she was in charge of purchasing the pieces. We also did a pair of custom curtains a custom pillow that I will mail to her to complete the look! It took a lot of team work and communication, but it has been a very fun project, and she is doing a fabulous job of putting it all together!

Here is an example of a mood board that I sent her for a play area off of the family room for their adorable son! Please click on the underlined word to view:

We also moved some accessories around the house for a cleaner feel:
